A young man assaulted a security guard in Puebla after being asked for identification and to change lanes to enter the Lomas de Angelópolis I residential area.

A young man assaulted a security guard in Puebla on November 27 before 7:00 PM. The assault was captured by security cameras and a driver who couldn’t enter the residential area due to the assaulter’s car blocking the lane.

In videos shared on social media, the young man, whose name is Patricio Pereyra, claims that the security guard hit him first upon realizing he was being recorded. He also states that he is a minor and asks the driver to stop recording while verbally attacking the guard, asking him if he enjoyed the beating. He is eventually calmed down by a motorcyclist and other men. However, the security guard calmly responds that there are recordings proving he never touched him.

The security guard went to a hospital of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), where it was confirmed that he had a broken nose. After the incident, social media users identified the young man as allegedly the son of Carlos Pereyra and Paola Mercenari, with the mother allegedly assaulting a woman in Cuernavaca, Morelos, in 2022.

The Anahuac University Puebla suspended Patricio Pereyra, condemning the incident and announcing the temporary suspension of the student. One day later the institution said it was expelling Pereyra definitely. The university states that, considering their regulations, this act is considered a serious offense and may lead to the student’s permanent expulsion.

This is the second violent incident involving Anahuac University students in two months. In September, eight youths assaulted Ernesto Calderón near the “Estrella de Puebla,” with two of them being students of the institution. The whereabouts of five of them are currently unknown.

Puebla Governor Sergio Salomón expressed regret over the incident, condemning classism and elitism that divides people based on social, racial, religious, physical conditions, or preferences. He called on the Puebla Prosecutor’s Office to conduct a thorough investigation and urged parents to reflect on preventing violent acts by their children.
